Club captain Michael Travis spoke to us ahead of this weekends Scottish Cup tie against Musselburgh. Thank you Michael, and good luck on Saturday!
It's a massive game for you this weekend when United take on Musselburgh in round three of the Scottish Cup. What's the mood in the camp like in the build-up to the match?
MT - We’ve had a really good weeks training, the boys have been working hard and enjoying the sessions that JJ has put on for us.
There's always a big game atmosphere at Scottish Cup ties as the last couple of rounds have shown, how special are these matches from a players perspective?
MT - The atmosphere at the last few Scottish cup games has been excellent, and I’m sure this weekend will be no different. This is the biggest cup competition that you can play in at this level, so the boys and the club want to get as far as they can.
You played Musselburgh a fortnight ago in the South Challenge Cup so both sides will be fairly familiar with each other, do you think this will have an impact on this particular match or is it more of a one-off in your eyes?
MT - It all comes down to this game to be honest, it’s the Scottish cup and we want to progress into the next round. It’ll be another exciting game I’m sure.
You've played in the Scottish Cup for a number of years now, do you have any particular special memories in the competition?
MT - My most favourable memory in the Scottish cup was from 2012. I was part of the Arbroath squad that drew 1-1 with Celtic at Parkhead, Steven Doris equalised in the 87th minute and the boys took it to a replay at Gayfield. Unfortunately I didn’t play any part in the game, but being a young boy and experiencing the atmosphere during and following the result was unbelievable.
